 Hello St George’s,

Like many in the church have been doing since the Middle Ages we celebrated Candlemas together yesterday by blessing candles and things that represent light.  A huge thank you to Sharon for the beautiful display of candles and Gail for the photograph.   We moved that feast to Sunday in order to celebrate it together, but traditionally Candlemas is celebrated on February 2nd, 40 days after Christmas.  I’d encourage you to find a simple way to celebrate light this Wednesday, by lighting a candle, pausing to say a prayer of gratitude when turning on a light switch or by noticing that slowly but surely the days are getting longer as we reach the halfway point of winter.   If you prefer to read sermons, my Candlemas sermon just click here.

can be found here:  http://revracheltwigg.com/candlemas/   This coming Sunday will find us reflecting on fishing, God’s abundance, and that often misinterpreted notion that we are all called to be “fishing for people.”  Spoiler alert: It doesn’t mean what most people think it means.

Peace to you today and everyday,   Rachel
