Peacefully on Thursday, April 4, 2024, Anne, passed away at Donwood Manor at the age of 87 years.
Anne is survived by her husband Ron; children Wendy (Rene) and Geoff (Tammy); grandchildren: Nicole (James), Nicole, Michael, Danielle (Bill), Dave (Sarah), Luc (Ashleen), Tyler, Noah, 10 great-grandchildren as well as her siblings, Cam, David (Marlene) and Rev. Gwen Bright.
Anne grew up in River Heights, where she attended Kelvin High and later St. John’s College at the University of Manitoba, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree. After graduation she worked at Great West Life where she met her dear friend, Barbara Wilson, who eventually introduced her to the love of her life, Ron. Anne and Ron were married in 1960 and soon moved to Transcona to raise their family, living there for 35 years and making lifelong friends. Their home for the last 15 years was at 500 Tache where Anne and Ron once again created lasting memories and made great friends.
Anne’s faith and dedication of service led her to be an active volunteer at the Churches she regularly attended throughout her life. She also would be the first to volunteer for causes that were important to her including Girl Guides, fundraisers for community activities and for the Manitoba Golf Association, where she served in a leadership role for many years.
One of Anne’s greatest joys was playing golf with friends and family. As a member of Wildewood for over 50 years, Anne and the family created many memories at the Club, where she not only had a hole-in-one but also was the club champion in 1982. Anne also loved musicals and going to Rainbow Stage and the WSO Pops were favorite yearly events.
Anne’s greatest pleasure was being with her family. She cherished the sleepovers with her grandchildren and attending their sporting events, school plays and concerts. She also enjoyed traveling, especially the annual visits to San Diego to spend time with family.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Anne's life will be held on Saturday, April 20 at 11:00 am in Saint Bartholomew Anglican Church, 881 Autumnwood Drive.
The family would like to thank the staff at Donwood Manor for the love and care they gave Anne over 15 months she was there.
